It has been a few years since we have updated the suggested retail pricing for Tru Vue® glazing and the new reduced cost on Museum Glass® gives us the perfect opportunity to create new pricing strategies.
Many framers have struggled to sell larger sizes of premium glazing products because the old defaults concentrated on maintaining a consistent margin instead of focusing on the profit dollars generated for each sale.
To combat this, the new suggested default pricing for premium products like Museum Glass and Optium Museum Acrylic® now are priced to reflect the Rule of Three, meaning that pricing is based on three times the profit dollars generated on basic products. In the case of Museum Glass, the new default pricing for a 16x20 piece would be set at three times the profit you would receive from selling a 16x20 piece of Conservation Clear Glass®.
The result is improved profit on smaller pieces of premium glazing and lower markups on the more expensive, less popular large sizes. This pricing strategy will produce more competitive pricing on large projects, while still ensuring that you receive three times more profit when you sell any size of premium glazing.
